Most people at risk are seen long before they are treated, usually by someone who is not a clinician. ABC teaches what to do in that moment.

HOW IT WORKS

Four ways to take the class

The same curriculum is delivered in four formats, so a job site, a school, a county senior center, and someone at a kitchen table at midnight can all reach it. Every format is free, and every format is taught from the same versioned curriculum.

Santa Fe Community College recognizes September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

Santa Fe Community College is marking September as Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, joining organizations across New Mexico in a month of education and outreach. Through Mosaica, the college delivers the ABC Suicide Prevention training free to New Mexicans in-person, live online, on demand, and by webcast.

The observance carries particular weight here. New Mexico’s suicide death rate was roughly 80% higher than the national rate in 2024, and 532 New Mexicans died by suicide that year. ABC teaches three steps — Ask, Be Present, Connect — that anyone can use with a person they are worried about, no clinical background required.
